Mr. Jonathan E. Mitchell is the Chairman of investment committee of UG Capital Partners (Shenzhen) Fund (LP). Mr. Mitchell is a seasoned investor with over 30 years of experience in asset and investment management, he is the Chairman and CEO of the Mitchell Family Interests, an umbrella organization covering a myriad of entities owned by Mr. Mitchell and his family. among the assets, he controls is a significant portfolio of stocks and bonds and as many as thirty privately-held equity investments, ranging in industry sectors from manufacturing to technology, from building materials to food and beverage, from cosmetics to film production and from mergers & acquisitions to real estate.  Geographically, his family holdings are in a variety of locales in the United States, as well as in Australia, China, Israel and Japan.
Prior to that, Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Board of Directors of the former AMEX-listed financial services company, Beneficial Standard Corporation and subsidiaries, among which were Beneficial Standard Life Insurance Company, Beneficial Standard Mortgage Company and Beneficial Standard Properties, Inc., where he served as President.  Beneficial Standard Life, founded in 1940 by Mr. Mitchell’s grandfather, grew to become California’s fourth largest life insurance company. Subsequently, Mr. Mitchell was President of Benequity Holdings, a New York Stock Exchange listed real estate enterprise, until its sale in 1987.
Mr. Mitchell is the Chairman and CEO of the Edward D. & Anna Mitchell Family Foundation and currently sits on the boards and/or committees of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, JLTV (an American television network), Life Member of Technion – Israel Institute of Technology Board of Governors, and former board and committee member of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Foundation. He has been given the highest awards offered by the Anti-Defamation League, the Orthodox Union’s Institute for Public Affairs and the Zionist Organization of America. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and currently is a life member of the World Presidents’ Organization.
Mr. Lau is the founder United Gain Investment Limited (UGI) and UG Capital Partners (Shenzhen) Fund (LP). With over 20 years of experience in investment management, consulting and finance, he also possesses profound knowledge of various leading technologies.
Since inception of UGI, Mr. Lau has been serving as Executive and Chief Investment Officer, directly manage multiple funds and has employed by several listed investment company as investment manager. Mr. Lau is managing a hedge fund, several Asia Pacific and Greater China focus segregated portfolios and portfolios for a group of high net worth individuals.
Before entering into the consulting, investment management and financial services industry, Mr. Lau was worked as senior engineer and research assistant in enterprises and institutes in the United States, including the Intel Corporation, New York State Institute on Superconductivity and Laboratory for Power and Environmental Studies.
Mr. Lau is a Responsible Officer licensed by the SFC of Hong Kong to carry out Investment Advisory (Type 4) and Type 9 (Asset Management) regulated activities.
Mr. Lau holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master’s degree in Science of Electrical Engineering from National Technological University, Fort Collins, Colorado, the U.S.A., a Bachelor’s degree in Science of Electrical and Computer Engineering from State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, the U.S.A. and a Certificate in Plasma processing from Massachusetts Institute of Technology of Massachusetts, the U.S.A.
He is a member of the Society of Registered Financial Planners in Hong Kong, a registered Financial Planner in People’s Republic of China, a Fellow Member of Institute of Financial Accountants (United Kingdom) and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Public Accountants (Australia). Since 2008, Mr. Lau has been appointed as a Disciplinary Committee Panel Member of the Social Workers Registration Board for the Hong Kong SAR.
Joseph Chan joined United Gain Investment Limited as a Fund Accounting and Operation Manager and promoted to the Chief Operating Officer in January 2020. He currently oversees the Company middle and back office operation, financial reporting, NAV reconciliation, regulatory compliance and internal policies.
Mr. Chan has extensive experience in auditing, finance, initial public offering projects as well as compliance. He began his career as an auditor in PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong, prior to joining the Company, he was the Finance Manager of an initial public offering project.
He is a Certified Public Accountant of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the student of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accountancy (First-class honours) from the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
